Group History
Our story began in 1998, when the first meeting of the support group was held on the Gold Coast. Over the years, many people have been part of the group, helping to create a place where people living with fibromyalgia and ME/CFS could find understanding, friendship and support.
Carol Baker joined the group in 2000 and became facilitator in 2012. For many years, her passion and commitment helped keep the group going and laid the foundations for what it has become today.
Carol had long hoped the group would become incorporated, opening the door to greater opportunities to support our community. In June 2021, that goal became a reality and Fibromyalgia ME/CFS Gold Coast Support Group Inc. was born.
Since then, the group has continued to grow and evolve, while staying true to what has always mattered most — bringing people together who understand.
Today, we are a registered not-for-profit incorporated association under Queensland law and a registered charity with the ACNC, with Health Promotion and Advancing Health Charity status and DGR endorsement.

In memory of Margo James, one of the original founders of our support group
